Senior College Dún Laoghaire is an open access College of Further
Education, which welcomes learners of all races, ethnic backgrounds,
economic and marital status, gender, beliefs, ages and those with special needs.
The College exists for its learners and all investment, staff development and reflection is undertaken with the goal of improving the educational service to learners and laying the foundations for lifelong personal development and learning.
Senior College Dún Laoghaire has over 900 full-time and 450 part-time learners and is one of Ireland’s largest Further Education Colleges. SCD offers an excellent range of professional career courses. Senior College graduates enjoy professional qualifications certified and accredited by nationally and internationally recognised
examining and professional bodies.
Adults/Mature Students
The College welcomes adults, over 21, who wish to return to work or who need to retrain in new skills and technologies. In some cases, part-time adult students may be accommodated to attend individual subjects on a whole-time course. They may, thus, gain a qualification over a longer period. Adults are enroled on most courses and their presence enhances the learning environment.
VTOS and BTEA
The College welcomes VTOS and BTEA students. Both schemes assist those who wish to return to full-time education without loss of Social Welfare benefit or allowances.
